I received an email saying that I had to sign in in order to keep my account. I did not click on the link provided since I thought it might be a scam. Was this a valid email? If so, is signing in now meet the requirement to keep my account?

Please see Mozilla account deletion due to inactivity. The email is probably genuine, but you may just sign in here.

Hi there,

Mozilla periodically deletes inactive accounts by our retention policies. If you haven’t signed in or used your account after two years, your account could be scheduled for deletion. You may want to check out Mozilla account deletion due to inactivity.

That said, by using your Mozilla account to sign in and post a question here, your account should be safe. (:
