BOOKMARKS - Why are they bad now?
(on a mac book pro 2021-Ventura 13.7.2)
- 1 - first time sending FireFox bug issue. I took 1/2hr to type out my book mark issues, as specific detail as possible so it would be clear why your NEW Update messed up your BOOKMARK function - a first time and was DONE. went to bottom to click Submit. Saw the ask for Images, made the screenshots, uploaded screen shots here, saw your Button for "Data share"- not sure what this is but wanted to help you/help me, so I clicked it, said something next suggesting I Data share manually - link for HOW to Data share manual, decided was too much for my time right now - clicked the top window Arrow "Back" to THIS page AND 40MIN OF INFO WAS GONE!!!!
Don't put a button and ask for info suggesting I click or I move away from a page to HELP YOU !!! then lose all the work I just did. DON'T WASTE MY TIME!!! OMG - WTF!!! this is not a "fun thing" to spend time on during a busy day or ever. now don't care to re-type it and am leaving with bad experience. well done!
"Volunteers" - why are volunteers doing Firefox support work for free?
See attached screen shots. Bottom line-GO BACK TO THE OLD BOOKMARK FUNCTION where I can add a new bookmark AND put it in folder where I want it in 1 step.

Sorry about the Share Data button problem. It has been reported in the past but seems to strike randomly so it is hard to replicate and track down.
In your first screenshot, in the Edit Bookmarks dialog, check the box for "Show editor when saving" so Firefox opens it every time you save a new bookmark. There is a time-out, so if you don't interact with the dialog within 5 seconds, it will just auto-save using the folder shown. Of course you can recall it using Command+D.
Hi again -
I do a lot of research, have a lot of folders, so bookmarking function is important to me. appreciated! Still would like to know why you are a "volunteer" and not a paid cust support employee? you're awesome, but that also makes billion dollar Firefox look pretty cheap and exploitive. just sayin.
Follow Up: the "Show Editor When Saving" since it had stopped automatically being in that Bookmark window- logically belongs in FireFox Admin/ Account SETTINGS.
But per your advice, I checked the box you suggested and yes, it now offers the folder choices and all that was there before in 1 step. Thank you!
Also, few minutes after taking your advice above, interestingly - my #2 question of why Firefox would AUTO-create a bookmark for a blank tab in it's new "Update" - stopped happening. Blank/new tabs now show the original Bookmark window to choose to new/edit bookmark and choose the location, etc.
But, since you are so nice, can't help but bring up another NEW ISSUE - In the BookMarks - ManageBookmarks - Library window - can see all my folders in Left Column. Click/Highlight a folder and then see everything inside that folder same as it should be.
BUT, old Bookmark Library - if I just wanted to find something quick (mentioned I have a ton of folders) I could type in to Top Right "Search Bookmarks" - would find that company name/URL - then at bottom I could see or change the name of the book mark and see LOCATION (=folder), tags, Keyword, etc so I could find what folder I put it in. Location is no longer part of that bottom info? AND, top Library menu of chosen columns to show - Name, Tags, "Location" but Location has the URL(https://) - NOT the folder name I created - that URL can be found in??? Any help with that? Thank you!!

I don't remember whether Folder was in the editing pane at the bottom right before, but it probably would have been labeled Folder and not Location, since Location has generally referred to the URL. The Address Bar used to be called the Location Bar, for example. But I digress...
There is a context menu item you can use on the search list to switch to a view of the folder with that bookmark highlighted:
right-click (or on Mac, Ctrl+click) > Show in Folder.
But I don't see a way to get back to your search results, which is annoying if you wanted to track down the folders of duplicate bookmarks since you have to keep re-entering your search. Maybe that isn't a concern, or someone else knows a more efficient method.
