It looks like you created a Firefox profile folder and used "Choose Folder" to point to the desktop. You should never do this, always use a dedicated empty folder to be used as the profile folder. If you would remove this profile and select to remove the files, then all files on the desktop will be removed with no way to recover. You need to use the Profile Manager to remove this profile, but you need to make sure to click delete profile and not to click the button to remove the files. Next create a new profile and create this profile in the default location and not use "Choose folder". You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.
