installed previous version of the browser because of the 116 bugs - and lost everything (???)

Hi,

Because numerous things did not work with version 116, I downloaded previous version of the browser and installed it. When it started it said something like "you are trying to use the previous version so some things may not work, would you like to create a new profile?" and there was a choice "yes" or "exit". So I chose "yes" - because how creating a new profile could mean something bad? But it did - it deleted all my bookmarks and settings. I have used mozilla for years, everything was in it. How to restore the bookmarks and everything back? It, by the way, upgraded itself to 116 anyway.

You created a new profile. So your items are in the old profile. Just switch to old profile on the about:profiles page.

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you've had with the recent Firefox update. It seems like the previous version's profile might not be fully compatible with the new one, leading to the profile creation prompt. To try restoring your bookmarks and settings, you can attempt to create a new profile within the latest version of Firefox by going to the "about:profiles" page in the address bar. From there, you can set the newly created profile as the default one and see if your bookmarks and settings are restored. If that doesn't work, you might also have the option to import bookmarks from a backup file or sync them if you had set up a Firefox account. Please keep in mind that creating backups of important data is always a good practice before making any major changes.

Thank you both for the answer :-) One of the profiles in about:profiles was the old one and I set it to be the default - it seems it works! Thank you
