Two maps "Andere bladwijzers" (Other bookmarks) in Firefox.
Good morning, Recently I discovered there are two maps called "Andere bladwijzers" in my Firefox browser. I deleted a submap in the second map and noticed this submap had also disappeared in the first map. Is there something I must do or can I leave these two large maps as it is? Thanking you in advance for your reply. With kind regards, Ed Schijf, the Netherlands

Hi cor-el, The problem has finally been solved. Thanks for your help!! I made a backup copy of places.sqlite, went to the Bookmarks Manager and got a list of all Bookmarks. I made an HTML file of it and deleted the ghost 'Other bookmarks' folder, this worked fine. Thanks once again for your efforts! Kind regards, Ed

The real "Other Bookmarks" folder item shows as one of the three bookmarks root folders under the "All Bookmarks" folder in the left panel in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) and in the sidebar (Ctrl+B) and can't be renamed (Edit Bookmark is grayed). Any other such folder could be one you created yourself or could be caused by importing an HTML backup.
Where do/did you see those two folders ?
Thanks for your reply!
In the sidebar I see: Bladwijzerwerkbalk Bladwijzermenu and Andere bladwijzers with all my sub maps When scrolling down I find the map Andere bladwijzers with all my submaos again.
I would have added images of it but Browse.... isn´t working.
Thanks again. With kind regards, Ed
Is that second map appearing as a sub map of the first (real) "Andere bladwijzers" map ?
If you use Sync, best is to disconnect Sync temporarily during troubleshooting.
This could be a problem with the places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.
- use the "Places Database" -> "Verify Integrity" button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page
If errors are reported with "Verify Integrity", close and restart Firefox or reboot and retry.
If "Verify Integrity" cannot repair places.sqlite, rename/remove all places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
- keep a backup copy of places.sqlite in case a new places.sqlite database has to be created
- you lose the history when a new places.sqlite is created
You may have to restore an older bookmarks backup in the bookmarkbackups folder via the Bookmarks Manager (Library).

Good morning!
Is that second map appearing as a sub map of the first (real) "Andere bladwijzers" map ? No, it is not appearing as a sub map but as a normal map.
Today I will try to follow your advises as mentioned above. Thanks very much so far again, I'll keep you posted.
Kind regards, Ed
Good morning, cor-el,
Before following your advices I manually moved the latest bookmarks that were beyond / under the second map "Andere bladwijzers" to the real, first map. When restarting my computer later on I discovered that the second map was completely gone. I don´t know what happened but there is no problem anymore now. Thank you very, very much for your help, I really appreciate it!! Kind regards, Ed
Hello cor-el, It is a pity that I can't send an image (Browse still doesn't work). This morning I discovered that the second mat "Andere bladwijzers" still exists!!! It is now a sub map of the first "Andere bladwijzers¨ and has the same content as the the first one. The integrity of Places and Favicons is both: SANE. What else can I do now, I am at a complete loss. Nice weekend, kind regards, Ed
Do both Other Bookmarks folders have the Delete Folder item grayed ? If that is the case then you will have to remove places.sqlite as it is likely that the database is corrupted.

Do both Other Bookmarks folders have the Delete Folder item grayed ?
No, the original (first) folder has the Delete Folder item grayed, the second one NOT. Does this change the procedure to be followed in your last reply? Places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite are sane.
If you have an extra ghost Other Bookmarks folder that appears as a copy then this means that places.sqlite is corrupted. If "Verify Integrity" will have to remove places.sqlite, you likely do not need to remove favicons.sqlite and you can keep this file and avoid having to visit all bookmarks to retrieve their favicon.
