Is this a bug or intended feature? Search results reappear

I noticed this on version 91.13.1. Here is the steps to replicate this bug:

1. Search for a particular persons email address (you have to search exactly for that user or otherwise open a message from that user in the search list)

2. Write new message

3. Enter the email address you just searched for as the recipient and watch as a new tab gets opened containing the previous search result you just looked for.

Here's a video showcasing the problem.

I find this really annoying, since I didn't ask for that search result tab to open itself. I was really hoping this would get fixed in the latest build, but it seems I have to reinstall the old version because there is no added benefit to me of using the new version.

Im worried that might erase my settings, but it happens on over 5 machines of mine, all using different versions. It seems to be an intentional feature, just a stupid and pointless one. Can you try replicating it on your end using the video as a reference?

It erases nothing - effects are temporary. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-mode-thunderbird

I don't see the behavior you describe when using version 102.

Your first step is to try troubleshoot mode.

I ran troubleshooting mode.

It still happens. But only for office365 accounts. I couldn't replicate the problem by connecting my gmail account.

What sucks is, if this is a bug, and it gets fixed, I'm going to have to install the latest version which I can't stand :(

I also liked how on 91.6.1 email attachments download to the appdata temp folder, instead of the random "prid" folders that I used to have to track down and delete manually.

My office365 account is connected through thunderbird itself via account settings. Honestly this isn't a problem for me anymore because I don't use the search bar now, instead I use quick filter which doesn't trigger this problem.
