Does Google create extensions for Firefox? That would be nice. ;-)

Could you try this instead:

(1) Open the Settings page and check that Gmail is your default action for "mailto" links. This article has the steps: Change the program used to open email links.

(2) Open the Customize panel and drag the "Email Link" button to the main toolbar. See: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

Now you can use the Email Link button to send the title and URL of the current page to a new Gmail message in a new tab. Does it work on yours?

If you prefer not to use toolbar space, you also can use the classic File menu. Assuming you do not normally display the optional menu bar at the top of your browser, use Alt+F to open the File menu, then tap the E key or click Email Link...
