Many times the comment system on a new site is embedded from a different server, so cross-site cookie restrictions or content blocking could be a factor. Especially on sites that use Facebook for comments (I don't know what WSJ uses). As a starting point, try making an exception to the Enhanced Tracking Protection feature on WSJ and see whether that makes any difference. I suggest taking a look at all of those to see whether any of them might be the culprit. Any progress so far?
