How to get rid of ads Mozilla is inserting into Firefox?

I was extremely disappointed to be forced to view a full-page advertisement for Disney when I started Firefox this morning. How can I ensure that this NEVER happens again?

I have been a dedicated Mozilla user for over 15 years, tolerating Firefox's many bugs and rapid decline in overall quality the last several years, but if I get another ad like this I have absolutely no reason to continue using Firefox and will start using Chrome immediately. I might as well just give all my info to Google if the alternative is to be forced to not only view ads, but view ads from companies such as Disney. This crosses a line and is not acceptable.

Thanks

Same here. Super disappointed, Firefox. Remove your ridiculous ads, please. I don't want to go back to other browsers but I will if I see another ad on my home page (it's even set to BLANK and I'm seeing this Disney ad.)

There are several possibilities here.

Step one: You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed free to use malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

Step two: Check your home page settings. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-set-the-home-page

Also, If you are using a shortcut to open the browser, check to make sure it is not causing the problem. Right-click on the shortcut and select Properties. (Windows) Under Shortcut look at the Target Does it look okay?
