The information you quoted, "On Windows, there will now be fewer interruptions because Firefox won’t prompt you for updates. Instead, a background agent will download and install updates even if Firefox is closed." is from the Firefox 94.0 release notes, https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/94.0/releasenotes/

This behavior can be changed in Firefox Settings. Firefox 94.0.1 still allows you to turn off automatic updates so that Firefox checks for updates but asks you before installing them. It also lets you prevent Firefox from updating when it is not running by unchecking that option, as shown here in Firefox 94.0.1 settings on my Windows computer:

This means that users that use Firefox infrequently are often out-of-date. It also means that if they open Firefox again in response to a marketing campaign, they may not immediately get the features advertised. Background Update aims to address this problem by allowing updates to be downloaded and installed, even when the user doesn't run Firefox.

I think you misunderstood my question.

It's about 94.0.1 change which apparently does not have the option to "Check for updates but let me choose to install them"- which I have currently selected in 94.0.
