We know that maybe some think it is in the best interest of users to remove options, but removing the option to stop update notifications is compounding the basic problems of crashing, slowness, seemingly doing something in the background. First I would say that in the past I would use FF over all other browsers, but something happened in the past year that is making it unproductive to use the browser. Particularly when you lose setting and passwords saved.
