Hello,

As stated, when I connect to public networks (namely Starbucks' and Panera's) Firefox will not successfully load their connection portals. A new tab will open, and "www.msftconnecttest.com/redirect" will begin loading, but go nowhere. Each time I am forced to open Microsoft Edge to paste that link in and the connection proceeds.

Has anyone encountered this before?

Hi Samuel,

Try opening firefox in Safe mode,

  • Find the Firefox icon or click Start and type Firefox.
  • Hold down the Shift key on the keyboard and then click the Firefox icon.
  • In the Firefox Safe Mode window, click the Start in Safe Mode option.

Make sure you are not blocking content.

Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

The problem does not persist while in Troubleshoot Mode.

Okay, then refreshing the browser will surely help you.

Try Refreshing your Browser:-

  • To do this, click the menu button at the top right corner of the Firefox window.
  • Click the “Help” option near the bottom of the menu.
  • Click the “Troubleshooting Information” option in the Help menu.
  • Click the “Refresh Firefox” button at the top right corner of the Troubleshooting Information page.
  • You’ll be warned that this will remove your browser add-ons, reset your customizations, and revert other browser data to the default settings. Click “Refresh Firefox” to confirm you want to make these changes.

I generally suggest using a non-secured page to trigger authentication. Otherwise, you may get a secure connection error.

When entering a non-secured address, if one of your extensions (or Firefox's HTTPS Only mode) automatically upgrades the request to HTTPS, then that can trigger the problem.
