Homepage Browser Use

As always, there are two boxes in which to enter search subjects. It has always been my practice to use the larger one, in the middle of the page. Lately (after the homepage's appearance has changed) when I type in the big box and enter it jumps up to the smaller box and will not let me use the other. When I enter a search topic I get a whole list of referrals to intermediary sites and the one I want is far down the page.

I will have to look for a new browser if this can't be fixed. I am very unhappy with this situation.

Hi richardranville,

You can change your search preferences and appearance from your Firefox settings. You can do this by going to settings > search > search bar or by entering about:preferences#search in the URL bar.

The search bar that appears on the default Firefox homepage is linked with the URL search bar, which is why when you start typing - it automatically jumps to the URL bar at the top. You can also remove this feature by changing your default homepage, for example switching your homepage to Google instead of the Firefox default.

I hope this helps.
