unopenable files
I have saved .gdoc files on a thumb drive as a backup. I downloaded them to my Windows 10 laptop to replace the original files which were accidentally deleted. They downloaded but won't open, and since Firefox was listed and is my browser I tried clicking it, but they opened in an unreadable format. Now I would like to revert to the original .gdoc and start over using a converter, or find another method to convert them but don't see a path to do either. Has anyone had this difficulty and can share their experience, good or bad?

Are that files with real content or only files that have a link to the original Google Doc file if you check this file in a text editor?
