Cannot sign in to my PayPal account (SSL_ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED_ALERT)
Hi All,
From December 24th I have been unable to sign in to PayPal from Firefox. The error message (see the attached screen shot) is apparently something about exchanging certificates with Google, and includes the error code
SSL_ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED_ALERT
At first I suspected that my security SW (F-Secure SAFE) played a role, but that is not the case for I can sign in to PayPal from Edge. Anyway, my searching with that buzzword suggests that the problem is related to Firefox.
I absolutely don't want to switch to another browser, but I also need PayPal at various sites I frequent.
Searching pointed me to this query but renaming the file SiteSecurityServiceState.txt did not help. Nor did the other suggestion of making FF "forget" PayPal (or Google) from within the History.

Thanks for the suggestions Fred. The first link (editing TLS min/max to zero) had no effect whatsoever to the behavior.
I am in the process of trying to implement the second suggestion. I could not locate a list of allowed programs from within the UI of my security SW. I guess I need to call their service desk.
Meanwhile I did more testing. If I deactivate F-Secure Banking Protection while trying to sign in to PayPal I can complete the process. So F-Secure is part of the problem. But, as I said, it is not all of the problem, because with F-Secure Banking Protection active, I CAN sign in from Edge.
So somehow F-Secure SAFE and Firefox are at cross purposes. I will share the second link in your answer with their staff, and may be they can tell whether their SW does something what is described in that link.
Thanks for the suggestions. I had a longish phone call with F-Secure technical support. A very helpful guy. We went through with my Firefox security settings. My default setting is "Custom" (sorry, not sure what it is called in English, the one where I can for example prohibit 3rd party cookies), he suggested that we check with "Basic". I restarted FF - no effect. Then we tried without my GoogleAnalyticsBlocker- add on, no effect (as you see, somehow the certificate exchange with Google was the problem). He told me to try from a private window - no effect.
Of course, I had tried flushing the cache and cookies before calling them.
Anyway, then I went for a walk with my wife, restarted everything, and the problem had disappeared.
So still a mystery, but no longer a pressing one. Something we tried back then had resolved it, if only after a bit of a delay.

I did more testing just 15 minutes ago. Toggling the "do not track me" -setting. No problems with "Always". But once I had a different problem with "only when FF is configured....", basically it was stuck in a loop. Even more of a mystery.

The F-Secure guy was interested enough, and told me they will try to reproduce the problem. If I hear from them again, I will, of course, share their findings here.

I am as unwilling to give up on F-Secure as I am to give up Firefox. My employer has arranged a nice deal with them, and we also have a long history.

One more thing. What did you mean with "Pick an adblock strategy"? I'm too much of an internet dummy to understand that without elaboration :-)
