in many sites (i.e. yahoo, b.b.c. etc) many photos fail to appear and space remains blank. In chrome browser everything is o.k.

Make sure you are not blocking content.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

i've found out that firefox blocks pics on sites within sites , maybe something to do with adobe flash which is about to be discontinued.
Can you provide a screenshot of the issue?
