firefox re- install after win 10 boot issue won't see saved passwords

This started when win 10 wouldn't boot - hung up on apps (icons screen) install. This I fixed (fingers crossed) by reversing most recent update. But then browsers wouldn't work. After a couple of reboots i got chrome to work, but firefox was hanging up. I tried a refresh of firefox, but ended up doing a complete uninstall/reinstall. Now loads and functions fine. I have old-firefox-files folder on the desktop - three different profile folders. The installed new default firefox profile has two main locations as per:

DEFAULT-RELEASE ROOT: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\qq2tbcfm.default-release..... LOCAL: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\qq2tbcfm.default-release-....

I can see all the original old files in the root folder (screengrab 1) - names, sizes are the same as in one of the saved old-firefox folder profile folders. Including logins.json, key3.db, key4.db which are the essential files. But in firefox - nothing, comes back with only the saved logins I have made subsequent to the reinstall - inc one for mozilla, and it looks like these are going into the right place - the logins.json has updated. screengrab-2 the local active default profile folder. screengrab 3 - the old files

One thought I have is that the key files should be in the LOCAL folder rather than the ROOT, based on a help page I found, is that right?

Any other suggestions how i might proceed to fix this?

Thanks a lot, firefox gurus.
