Since the new update was released I have been unable to figure out how to have the 'Open with Firefox' option for PDFs display the URL for the website and not my computer's program files.

I link a number of PDFs for my work and currently need to switch to Chrome to obtain the correct link, which is unnecessary and time consuming, prompt help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Brandi, there are two ways Firefox can receive a PDF:

(1) As "inline" content

Firefox opens the PDF in a tab seamlessly and saves it in the web cache. No "download" occurs.

(2) As a download

Firefox shows the Open/Save dialog. Any of the Open options uses the system Temp folder and opens the PDF from there. Save uses your Downloads folder (or lets you choose the folder).

It sounds like your PDFs are received as #2. So, what are your options:

(A) If you don't need the link to show in the URL bar but you need to be able to copy the link for reference, you can do that from the Downloads list. Right-click the download and click Copy Download Link.

(B) You can use an add-on to let these PDFs open in a tab. There are a number of these, but here are two options:

The first option worked but added an additional step, something I was hoping to avoid as this gets in the way of my workflow.

Neither of the applications solved the issue, I'll post if I find one that does. If you have any other recommendations I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Is your Firefox set to try opening first before downloading? What is mean is the setting here, make sure it's set on Open in Firefox and not Always Ask: View PDF files in Firefox or choose another viewer.
