Can't log in to sync, had to reset my laptop and password is gone. How do I recover my account?
help me log in with an older password, or something. I've tried many passwords but I think I might have chosen a random one that was supposed to be saved on my Firefox, which was then deleted with the rest of my laptop data. I don't want to have to stop new passwords for everything...

Do you have your account recovery key? If so, you can unlock your Firefox Account that way. See Reset your Mozilla account password with Recovery Keys.
If not, I'm afraid you're out of luck if you don't know the old password on the account. It's not that people wouldn't want to help you recover your account, it's that it's not technically possible to recover your account.
Contrary to popular belief, your password for your account doesn't actually get stored on the Firefox Accounts server. No one at Mozilla can actually see what your password is. Part of the reason why your password is so important on Firefox Sync is that your data gets encrypted with your account password. So changing the password on the account will make it so that the data already on your account can't be decrypted and, since no one can see what your password actually is, it's not possible to recover that data for you.
Unfortunately, if you don't know the password for your account and you don't have the account recovery key, you're out of luck. You will have do a standard password reset to regain access, which will wipe any existing data on your account. See I've lost my Firefox Sync account information - What to do.
The only other option would be to check if you have another device connected to Firefox Sync. That would mean that your data is on that device.
How did you reset your laptop because in some cases your old data might still be available or it might be possible to restore some data using a low level file recovery utility.
