Why is FF so set against accessibility?
For the last at least 25 releases, FF has gotten continually more hostile to someone like me who is visually impaired. I had read that FF was going to stop using the hamburger for menus because screen readers couldn't process it. That has not happened. Hamburgers, paper airplanes, icons instead of text, triple dots, and selector switches to turn settings on and off are all anti-accessibility. I don't like any of those features anyway. What is wrong with words like, "Menu," "Submit," or "Send"? This has been getting worse and worse over time. I don't know if the developers for FF are simply oblivious to the problems that they are causing or if they know but don't care. Gmail is worse but it seems like FF is following Google. What a horrible thing to do for accessibility, among other things. At least, though, Gmail on my phone can use the pinch technique to make the text larger. Firefox on my Android phone will not allow that. I cannot enlarge text in any window in the native FF phone app. This anti-accessibility is to pervasive it seems deliberate. Why is this being done????

about:preferences scroll down to Language and Appearance and there you can change the font and the size.
Hi. Sorry to take a while responding. Thanks for he suggestion but that does not begin to address the difficulties that I am speaking about. Screen readers can't interpret a row of three dots. Nor can they deciper what the hamburger, the three horizontal lines that indicate a menu. I do use a large font in FF but that does not solve my difficulties. I know that lots of websites use such things but it would be really helpful if there was an alternate version of FF that did not use these. How about a version tha sed the word, "Menu" or "Options" instead?
If this is solely about Firefox for Android, you posted in the wrong section of this forum. This section is for Firefox on desktop / laptop devices for Windows, MacOSX, and Linux computers.

A lot of menu items and toolbar icons have an aria-label to make this work properl with accessibility software.
I'm not seeing such a label for the "3-bar" Firefox menu button, but this button has a tooltip that a screen reader might be able to find.
Note that you can type the first letter of the text that shows in the tooltip to navigate items on the Navigation Toolbar and the Bookmarks Toolbar, use the Tab key to go to the next section.

Sorry for throwing an Android Firefox complaint in my post as well but I'm really concerned with Firefox on my desktop. Also, sorry for the tardy reply. I had already made my fonts bigger. Yes, there are games I can play to get around the browser basically with a lot of extra work but why does Mozilla think I should? To me it says, "We couldn't care less about visually impaired users. We only care about savvy people with normal eyesight." The hamburger, the three dots, the icons instead of words could all be replaced with words. Mozilla could easily make an accessible version of Firefox that lets me choose to have words and not symbols that have no inherent logic to their meanings. There is no inherent need for this. There was a definite design decision to go this route. It might make things easier for the programmers but when I as a programmer, the point was to help the user, not do what was easiest for me. Anyway, I assume that Mozilla made a deliberaate choice on this. I've expressed my view on it and that's all there is to say because I'm confident that tey dont' care or it would not be an issue in the first place.
The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers. We deal with Firefox as it is, not how users "think" Firefox should be or what needs to be fixed. Nor do "we" have any say over design decisions that Mozilla makes regarding Firefox. Hell, most of us who provide support here for other users have our own opinions and our creation a Bugzilla of a new report or posting suggestions in an existing Bugzilla report doesn't typically give us anything as far as changes that we would like to see.
