Thanks, I didn't know a portable existed. Installed it and now see no way to import bookmarks from my 56.0 install, do I need an add-on for this?

Hi RASelkirk, Firefox makes automatic bookmark backups, but they are well buried in the Windows folder structure. It would be easiest to make a new backup in a convenient location.

In Firefox 56, follow the steps to make a backup in this article, saving to your Desktop or Documents:

Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer

In Portable Fireox 74, follow the steps in that same article for a Restore, and use the Choose File item on the menu to point Firefox to the backup you make.

Sorry to say, 56.0 has no "library" icon, nor anything about importing or exporting bookmarks. I did finally find both in the portable version, but it will only import IE, Chrome, or HTML. If there's a way to export 56.0 BM's to HTML, I'm all ears...

Have you never used the Library window? In Firefox 56.0, you could access that using either:

• Bookmarks menu button > Show All Bookmarks
• (menu bar) Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
• Ctrl+Shift+b

Guess I never had a reason to. Your solution worked, too bad FF hides all this so called "functionality" several layers deep and out of sight. At my age, I'm not overly inclined to poke around...

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Firefox uses two locations for the Firefox profile folder, so make sure to look in the correct location. Location used for the main profile that keeps your personal data (Root Directory on about:profiles).
