The Firefox Account credentials for Sync are stored in the Password Manager (logins.json in the profile folder), so if Firefox doesn't login automatically then something seems to be wrong with the Password Manager.

A possible cause is that Firefox isn't installed properly and that you run Firefox from within the DMG (Disk Image) file.

Make sure you install Firefox properly.

Open the Firefox Disk Images file and drag the Firefox application to the Applications folder on your hard drive. You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the Disk Images, but instead drag it out of the DMG folder.
