Encountering a "libxcb error" while trying to use browser

OS: SLES 11.3 SP4 firefox ver: 40.0.2

I have already done the following: - run as administrator - run with safe-mode on - run with add-ons disabled - re-installed the browser - run without a profile

I can NOT upgrade the browser any higher on this machine.

After manually launching the browser and attempting to navigate around various websites, I encounter the following libxcb error:

WARNING: content window passed to PrivateBrowsingUtils.isWindowPrivate. Use isContentWindowPrivate instead (but only for frame scripts). pbu_isWindowPrivate@resource://gre/modules/PrivateBrowsingUtils.jsm:25:14 nsBrowserAccess.prototype.openURI@chrome://browser/content/browser.js:15679:21 libxcb: WARNING! Program tries to unlock a connection without having acquired 

       a lock first, which indicates a programming error.



       There will be no further warnings about this issue.

After I see that, I know that the next time I click on anything in the browser that runs javascript, the browser will freeze. When I click the x to close the browser it gives me a "process not responding" error and the option to terminate the application.
