when using a login on my roboform start page firefox opens a new tab instead of using the page already open
I use roboform's start page to display my most used logins, for some reason since the last Firefox update (70) when I select a login Firefox now opens a new tab instead of using the current open window. I have tried all the setting in Firefox and nothing changes, any way to stop this action.

In order to stop automatic opening of advertisements
on new tabs, I suggest you following:
Click Start, select “Control panel” option. Open “Uninstall a program” Uninstall all suspicious and unknown applications. Reset Firefox settings. Download AdwCleaner and
scan your computer and remove any malware found.

OK, let me go very slow and as concise as I can get. I have Firefox 70 installed, I also have Roboform password manager installed, I have my homepage set to the Roboform start page which is a homepage screen with icons that represent my logins to various websites. When I click on an icon I would normally go to my selected website on the same tab and Roboform would enter the login info. Since Firefox 70, when I click on an icon on my Roboform homepage Firefox opens a new tab instead of using the open homepage tab, tried all the options I could find in Firefox, no changes. I have no unwanted programs, viruses or anything else, all programs are up to date.

Roboform password manager is a 3rd party add-on for Firefox, which could be forcing a new Tab to open. By default (without that add-on) Firefox will "reuse" the default Tab to open whatever the user selects from the Firefox Start Page.
I say "could be" because I have no idea how Roboform works; but that action makes sense being that your tab for the Roboform Start Page will thus remain open and be there when you get finished with viewing that web page.
Perhaps that add-on has a preference to change that action? That would be question for Roboform support to answer.
Problem is, Roboform has not had a new release in a while, after the release of Firefox 70 the problem started.
Is Roboform running as an external application or is this a page that opens in Firefox ?
If this is not a page in Firefox then you might be experiencing an issues with dedicated profiles.
Firefox 67 and later can use a dedicated profile for each of the Firefox update channels and will lock the profile, so it can only be used by Firefox in a specific installation folder. For Release versions this profile would be a xxxxxxxx.default-release profile, profiles used in older Firefox versions usually used a xxxxxxxx.default profile (a refresh adds a time stamp).
You can open the about:profiles page via the location bar to check whether multiple profiles are present and what profile Firefox currently is using.

No external application it is a website page just like any other except it is personalized for you and you select from your Roboform directory which website logins to display, it is just like having any website as your home page.
Profiles checked and only one there "default".
