Background opened tabs won't load until I open them 1 by 1 (When CPU is 100%)

When I open some tabs to the background, most of the times, none of them load in the background automatically, Unless I open them manually 1 by 1.

My RAM is 16 GB! (& is not less then 400 MB!) & most of the times 10 GB of it is free. Also the "browser.tabs.unloadOnLowMemory" in "about:config" is set to "false".

My Firefox theme is the Default theme.

I even tried Firefox in Safe Mode (with all addons disabled), But the problem still happened.

My "Windows 10" & "GPU driver" are also up-to-date.

This happens to me usually when My CPU is %100 (for doing other things like converting in the background). As soon as CPU usage goes lower than %100, The problem goes away.

Enabling Hardware Acceleration in firefox, sometimes helps, But not always.

Also I must say that I didn't have this problem before (maybe 1or 2 months ago), Until the last 2 or 3 versions of Firefox. So I'm sure its something to do with a new option that has been added to firefox lately.

This doesn't sound like it's related to the unloadOnLowMemory preference. Actually, this sounds quite normal, given the circumstances.

It's not a case of Firefox trying to unload stuff because it has low resource, but rather Firefox not being given any CPU resources to actually load the content.

The only solution I can think of is lower the amount of CPU that's being used by other programs, which I feel is probably obvious. A lot of software for performing conversions allow you to set the priority of the program. A lower priority would potentially tell your computer to give Firefox priority.

Hope this helps.

Did you check for issues caused by an extension that possibly open the tab in suspended state?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

I already did that. Not helped. Bcuz my problem is not from extensions, But from the Firefox.
