A short statement from a longtime Mozila user. Seems Mozilla could create a Browser that "responds" more often than the current one.

I've used Mozila for a whole lot of years but after a whole lot of months I'm about to my limit of frustration and am wondering why all of a sudden they can't create a dependable less stressful usable browser?

Thanks for the reply Fred. Just looking for and expecting another good Mozila browser that doesn't hang up and/or not respond several times a day, every day. Just frustrated mainly that my favorite browser is no longer dependable. I spend most of my computer time now following support articles trying to make my Firefox usable without frustration. But so far without success. I really hate to leave Mozila since I've been with them so long, but a more dependable browser needs to come along sooner rather than later because the one I have (69.0 at the moment) hangs and doesn't respond so much its about to drive me back to drinking again...

You can create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Thanks for your reply cor-el. To be sure I'm on the same page as you, am I understanding correctly that I can create new profile while saving my original one with all my saved files. Then if the new one isn't any better I can switch back to my original I have tons of stuff I';ve added over the years on my original profile that I really don't want to lose and I would be hamstrung for months or years if I did. On a side note, I do know I can rename the place files and my browser runs perfect for a day or so, then the hangups, long scripts, and no response error messages come pouring back in, several times a session and especially when on Facebook/messenger desktop my browser becomes almost unusable.

Thanks for the valid advice cor-el. But after creating and using a new profile for several days, and not transferring any files from the old one, I'm still being bombarded with hangups, Mozilla (not responding) alerts, plus aggravating long running script alerts. The problem is worse on Facebook but present regardless of what site I visit.

If a new profile still has this issue then this means that it isn't profile specific.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Close and restart Firefox after modifying the setting for changes to take effect.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox application. Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
