Perhaps someone could tease the meaning out of the reference for me? Is the poster suggesting the code associated with those links should enlighten me as to my problem? Is my UID considered a Canary_client_id and if so, what exactly does that mean?

However, if you have Telemetry disabled, then the value might stay unchanged. You can check whether your Firefox shares telemetry data with Mozilla using the steps in this article: Share data with Mozilla to help improve Firefox.

If you find out from Ubuntu people why it has that strange GUID, I'd be curious to know.

Usually a unique id (GUID) doesn't spell out recognized words. Is it possible you have a custom build of Firefox that intentionally makes it harder to identify telemetry data from an individual installation of Firefox?? If it was installed from your repo instead of from Mozilla's website, there might be some documentation on what was intentionally changed.
