Firefox is not allowing me to open a chat sesion, on a website??

已張貼

I am trying to reach my cell phone provider for support, but I cannot get the 'Click her to chat' button to do anything?? Now I am going to be forced to call them for support, and that is a monotonous process that involves being put on hold for hours, or having to get a call back later in the day. The issue (attached) is that the page has a small red box in the middle of the screen that is used to start a support session when you click it, but clicking that box does nothing now. I KNOW this is a Firefox browser thing, and am personally getting sick to death of all of the useless, pointless security features added to this browser, that only seem designed to make it impossible to comfortably browse / use the internet. I am seriously getting ready to switch to a more user friendly browser, in order to be allowed to use the internet without Firefox constantly deciding what I am and am not allowed to do online, unless they can fix this!!

Hi zlloyd1, first, you can always try Safari if you don't want to phone them.

Second, thank you for the screenshot. I see a little blue ghost on your toolbar, so please make sure Ghostery isn't blocking the chat window. The reason I mention that is Firefox's built-in Tracking Protection feature blocks it, so maybe Ghostery does, too.

(My screenshot attached is after disabling Firefox's Tracking Protection on the page loaded in a private window. I don't use Ghostery.)

Does that make any difference?

I saw your screenshot, thanks for that, but I did finally get it to open that window to enter information to start a chat session, but when I went to click the 'Start Chat' button, nothing happened.... I am not really familiar with Firefox built in tracking protection, but I did make sure that there was no pop up blocking enabled, but it made no difference.... Also, I do use Ghostery, and will try to disable it, so that perhaps it will not be causing issues for me. It seems that adding that page to the Ghostery whitelist was not sufficient, so I will completely disable it next time I try... I only use it because the outrageous amount of ads on many pages can make it incredibly slow to load them, and I am not even remotely interested in any of them truly.... Still, thanks again, and I did finally get the chat session to open, but I had to do it in Chrome browser, which was disappointing honestly!!

You could experiment with using a different ad blocker and see whether that one allows more pages to work normally. This one is well-regarded:

I already had that extension, it was just disabled because it seemed to block too much stuff that I actually wanted, but I went ahead and Enabled it.... Still, I am generally happy with Ghostery overall, and this is just a small inconvenience really.... If I really NEED to chat with Tracfone, I will just do it in Chrome I guess, because I personally do not have any love for Safari whatsoever, as it seems to be slow, like almost Dial-up slow to surf the web.... Still, thanks for yet another helpful response!!
