Computer slowed after the latest update, so I deleted every bit of firefox and tried to re-install it which is refused because of having no more profile

After updating to Version 67 it took 2 minutes for the Mozilla starting-page to open. So I deleted Firefox and reloaded it without success. I deleted the add-ons, the Cookies, Caches to no success. Finally I found that my profile could be the reason and I deleted the whole Firefox-Folder completely to start from anew. When I download the new Version comes "either you have no profile or the use is denied" and everything stops. If someone starts the first time with Firefox he would not have a profile either. So how can I get back using Firefox as my browser again?

Thanks for your tips and help in Advance.

Hi Alex, this is the problem:

[Install308046B0AF4A39CB]
Default=Profiles/61425vqn.default-1558868396795 [Profile0]
Name=default
IsRelative=1
Path=Profiles/61425vqn.default-1558868396795
Default=1 [General]
StartWithLastProfile=1
Version=2
Your Profiles.ini file is pointing to a nonexistent folder. That is why Firefox says your profile is missing or cannot be found. If you rename the file (e.g., ProfilesOLD.ini) then Firefox should create a new profile and list that new one in a new Profiles.ini file. Also, for more information: How to run Firefox when your profile is missing or inaccessible. 從原來的回覆中察看解決方案 👍 1

Hi freerider, what is the current status of the Firefox folder? In particular, what do you find here:

C:\Users\your-username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla

Is there a Firefox folder there now? (Please don't delete anything.)

(Note to other readers: AppData is a hidden folder. To enable following that path, see: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/h.../windows-show-hidden-files)

If you have a Firefox folder, does it contain these three things at least:

  • installs.ini file
  • Profiles.ini file
  • Profiles folder

Hi jscher2000, thx a lot, but I deleted everything because I wanted to start from Zero with Firefox. There is no hidden Folder there. And I also did not make any copies from anything. What does someone who Downloads Firefox for the first time? He does also have no profile and has to create one. In the meantime I found the possible reason for the delayed starting page of Mozilla: the same day I received an unwanted upload of Windows (because I did not allow any updates).

                                                                                     Regards, Alex

Hi again, I just opened all hidden Folders with %appdata%. There is a Mozilla-Folder in there but Firefox only contains crash-Reports and nothing under Profiles and this in profiles:[Install308046B0AF4A39CB] Default=Profiles/61425vqn.default-1558868396795

[Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/61425vqn.default-1558868396795 Default=1

[General] StartWithLastProfile=1 Version=2 This is all that is left.

                                     Regards, Alex

Hi jscher 2000 you´re an angel. I would have had no idea how to get Firefox running again. It finally worked. Thank you so much!
