email for the sign-in confirmation link is no longer active... is there an other way to recover my account on a new comuter?
I don't have acess to the computer firefox was on either so chan't add another email either.

Unfortunately, unless you have access to your email address for the account, you won't be able to regain access. This can't be overridden, for security and privacy reasons. You will have to make a new account.
If you are worried about data that may potentially still be on your old account, requesting a password reset (whether or not you have access to the account), will automatically erase any Firefox Sync data that Mozilla has on their servers.
