What the heck has happened? Lots of issues!
Using the control key (control only, or plus c or v) on webpages shrinks the page, ever smaller the longer I hold the Ctrl key. My bookmarks don't display in the address bar when I start to type in an address. Pop-down lists on webpages flick on verrry briefly and disappear before I can select one. It's all driving me nuts, and that's a short trip!
I am using Firefox Version 65.0 (64-bit) on windows 10 Pro version 1809.
Thank you for any help you can offer!

Keyboard commands and combo are controlled by the O/S and other software used it based on that. Did you look at the O/S keyboard config and Browser keyboard config and compare the two?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

Thank you both for responding.
I'm thinking now that it is an OS issue. I've had some other weirdnesses going on, for example when looking for System info, the page keeps scrolling down to the bottom with no input from me; that's not Firefox! And even though the parameters /time limits I set for sleep, by the monitor and the CPU itself, are still set the same, neither one is going to sleep when it should.
Plus I made this connection: the problems started after Windows updated itself Thursday night.
Thanks again!
Did you try to reboot the computer?
Can you try another keyboard in case some key are locked in down state?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.
Solved Problem!
Thank you all for your suggestions!
After almost 90 minutes on the phone with Microsoft support, and trying a huge array of fixes, including safe mode start in Firefox and in Windows, a different keyboard, a USB mouse instead of the wireless one I usually use, remote control of the 'puter by the tech, restarts, and a whole host of tries by him, the technical points of which escape me:
ALL the problems went away when I unplugged the USB chip for the wireless mouse, and promptly plugged it back in again 2 minutes later! I had left it plugged in when I tried the wired USB mouse the other day.
It's all working fine now. Thank you all again!
