My 64 bit PC has just had a windows 10 feature update(dec 15 2018). While firefox will load and display what appears to be a normal screen showing my bookmark toolbar for example my default homepage is not shown. If I try to visit any website using the search bar or toolbar bookmarks nothing happens. Chrome is not affected at all and behaves as expected. The moving dot in the tab is black and just oscillates for ever. No error messages are displayed. Any help would be appreciated. I have on occasion disabled all plugins but this appears to make no difference.

Hi Chris I have a screen recording as an mp4 file. Can this be uploaded using the choose file option as this seems to refer to images only?

Hi Terry, Upload the video to a cloud service, like YouTube, OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox, and paste a link to the video in this forum thread.

Do you use any command line options when you start Firefox?

Try different network settings.

Try with a new Firefox profile.

Try with an old Firefox version.

Hi Chris I have not heard from you in a while. Was the video been of any use to you. Thankyou for the other suggestions. I do not use command line options. I have successfully used an older version of firefox, namely 63.02. However despite me changing the update option to 'not to check for updates' when I close this version and then open it again it always updates and consequently does not work.

Are you sure it's not the firewall? What happens when you remove Firefox from the firewall?

Hi I have managed to get version 62.03 installed and stable. I have tried innumerable 'ploys' to get it to work without updating. Eventually rather than uninstalling the latest version before reinstalling version 62.03 I just installed v 62.03 'over' the latest version. The updated option is set not to check for updates. Whether firefox is an approved app for the fire wall seems to make no difference. At the moment firefox is temporally disabled as far as the firewall is concerned. I have noticed that when the non working latest version is closed firefox is still shown as an active process and has to be killed manually. This came to light when I was attempting to uninstall the latest version. I have not a clue whats going on!!!

So have you tried with a new Firefox profile?

Hi To be honest I don't know how to set up a new profile or its significance..

Hi I followed the instructions as given at the URL. I'm not sure what I was supposed to do to be honest. I created a new profile within the older version of firefox. I then opened firefox using this profile which told me that firefox was out of date. I updated and am back to square one.
