My google photos are backed up on my phone. And I can see them if I use Internet Explorer.

They do not show up in my google photos on Firefox...

Thoughts?

When you open

https://photos.google.com/

how much of the page do you get?

For example, I see a stack of five icons on the left side (Photos, Albums, Assistant, Sharing, Photo Book), Photos is selected, and there are pictures grouped by date in the main part of the page. If I click a photo, it zooms up to the full height of the content area.

Although I am on photos.google.com, the photos themselves appear to be stored on lh3.googleusercontent.com (there may be many different domains on that server).

For example: wary rabbit

If you can view that picture "stand-alone" in its own tab, there might be an issue with image permissions for the googleusercontent server used for your photos. That is one of the issues discussed in this article:

Fix problems that cause images to not show

Does anything there help?

Are we talking about accessing the pictures from the web, or pictures stored on the phone?

Make sure you are not blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

One issue that seems more common lately is Firefox's Tracking Protection feature. When it is blocking content in a page, a shield icon will appear at the left end of the address bar next to the padlock icon. This article has more info on managing this feature: Tracking Protection {web link}
