I can't save or add bookmarks. When I search Troubleshooting Information, Application basics does not show up. How can I fix?

more options

When I go on the web for help, it says to get into profile go to Help/Troubleshooting Information. When I do, Application Basics does not show up. If I search through Help for Application Basics, it doesn't show up so I can't get into profile to make changes. Any suggestions, please. I haven't been able to save bookmarks for a while, even downloading the latest Firefox edition.

Hi Danyon, are you trying the steps in this article: Fix "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" error message?

When you call up Help > Troubleshooting Information, you should get a page with numerous tables. In the first table, there should be a row titled Profile Folder with a Show in Finder button. Can you find that button?

If not, could you type or paste the following address and press Return to load it:

about:profiles

That should load a different internal page that has data for one or more profiles. The current one has the line:

This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.

Below that, on the line that says "Root folder" click the "Show in Finder" or "Open Folder" button.

And then you should be able to continue with whatever it is you're doing...
