Why Can't I Restore Previous Tabs Like Google Chrome

more options

With chrome I can easily restore previous session of tabs (27 in this case - image is attached).

But with firefox, I only get once chance to restore the tabs using the "restore previous session" button. If you click somewhere else once, you have to go hunting through your history, And if you had any tabs opened that you didnt visit yesterday, they dont even show up in the history.

Extremely frustrating, Really wish firefox was more like chrome in this aspect.

There are a lot of options using Session Managers : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=Session%20Managers

Hi satbal, Firefox keeps one previous session; each one is separate. (An additional session snapshot is captured when Firefox updates.)

You can restore the one previous session from the menu, but after you exit Firefox, your latest session becomes the one previous session you can restore. (Chrome seems to list only the tabs from my immediately previous session, too.)

If you want to avoid the situation where you accidentally lose a session, you can set Firefox to automatically restore your session at startup. I switched many years ago and it takes a bit longer to start up, but it's worth it to me. Each person has to make their own choice.

If you want to try it for a while, go to:

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

In the Startup section, check the box for "Restore previous session".
