HI, I think this going on less a year. I noticed sometime the menu bar blacken out for a second and return to white color, other time it just stay blacken till I use the mouse to click on the website and it change the color back to white.. If you want to get an idea what I'm talking about, move the mouse cursor while you're on Firefox and click on Taskbar you'll noticed that the Menu bar on Firefox will become black, and when you click on the website it'll go back to white its sort of like tabbing out.

Sometime when I go other room and come back I noticed the Menu Bar blacken out and it stay that way till I click on the site. The thing is while I'm typing when it does that, that when it making the beeping noise to prevent me from typing anymore till I click on the site. This is kinda of annoying.

Does anyone had this problem? How do I stop from doing this? I may be wrong, I think the reason it does this.. it is to check on the software update.. like Video Card update or Anti-virus update.

Thank you for your time xswordsmanx

Does the same thing happen in safe mode?

Please test in Safe Mode Try Firefox Safe Mode to TEST & see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

SafeMode-Fx35

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

Please consider next time ask a question to share data as the information we get only tells us extensions and Video Card Drivers and Video Card Drivers I would think be a main issue here.

Since I have no information your going to have to dig out the info for your Video Card Make and Model. You can search this in Win10 by searching for Device Manager and get the info there as well as the driver date.

It is rather important to reinstall Drivers as Firefox loves nice clean Drivers. We would have seen errors but no info so Download a Full version installer for your card and uninstall reinstall.

Note : Windows 10 can and will replace your Video card drivers with Microsoft's and can be very old drivers. https://www.howtogeek.com/302595/how-to-stop-windows-10-from-automatically-updating-hardware-drivers/ Depending on the age of your card this can be a concern.

And let you know this is not normal :

You may have to consider age of system and card.

I would have to keep an eye on it, and I don't want to >.<.. I really think video card are causing it.. Because ever since I installed it.. that when it start doing it.. But odd thing is that was back in Jan 2017, the problem started in like I think late 2017.. -shrugs- Not 100% sure when.

Edit: It happen at different hours, like it does it at 4:36am in the morning, than 11am, than 3pm.. And than next day it does it at 6:40am, and than 9am, and than at 12pm.. each of those are at different hours.. That why I was worry that it might be anti-spyaware gathering my information.. but I really think it might be the update thing.. not sure. :( I'm wondering does 144mhz refresh screen cause this to happen? I think that when it started.. See I can't really tell since I keep guessing if its the montior, or the firefox, or the software updates.. So its really hard to do safe mode and having to keep an eye on it.. >.< Because it never happen at exact same hour!

Its really hard to because its does it at different hours, never at same hour. Its does that like 3 or 4 time per day.. I'm beginning to wondering if it something to do with 144mzh refresh screen or the Video Card I installed back in Jan 2017, but it didn't start happening till late in 2017 or early 2018.. I couldn't really tell I keep thinking it might be software update, but I check on the time show it only does update weekly, not everyday.. only one that does update check is Anti-virus and I don't think it check 4 time a day.. -shrugs-

144 refresh rate is awsome. A/V will update 20 or 30x's a day. If have Malwarebytes it is in continual scan of computer, never stops. So depends on the A\V program, cheap and unknown no idea, brand name all the time.

Still think it is the Video Card Drivers, I see enough bad ones and people say I just installed them...well they are in bad shape with 2D, 3D all being unavailable, blacklisted, bad, and several more . It does not take long to reinstall drivers.

Hi it is not necessary to blockquote everything. When used properly it is a great tool https://www.w3schools.com/TAGS/tag_blockquote.asp

Please try this : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 62.0.0 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I did it all, guess what..I'm surprised it still have all my bookmark saved and profiles.. I didn't have to recover them, because its already there when I installed Firefox full.exe 38mb one.

I did unstalled Mozilla Firefox folders, I realize I already did this in the past, that why there was only one. So I did deleted that and restart the computer, and I saved the profile to the usb. I'm shocked that I didn't have to reinstall everything.. because its like it never unstalled in the first place!!!

I did went to C:\Program Files, C:\Program Files(x86) and I check ProgramData. And I noticed Mozilla Firefox folder was also in favorite I deleted that as well, I also did Window cleanup. How can it save my profile and bookfile if I deleted them from the app setting? -confused-

You're confusing me. :( I thought you told me to delete the profile and than firefox, i did save the profile so I can recover them after reinstalling the firefox after following your instruction.. But there one problem, its like it never got deleted after I reinstalled the Firefox and I was about to recover the profile by moving it into the folder but I realized there was no needed because its like I never deleted them in the first place! -scratches head- I even still got the saved profile on the computer.

-sighs- I give up.

Can you still access the profile you want? Is the problem still there for you, in a new profile?
