hi i decided to revert to FF v53.0.2 because i hated the newest update which has a new toolbar. and now FF seems to hang and stall especially when i'm using facebook. is there a newer version of FF which gave us back the older toolbar? and the othe thing is that exactly one hour after i log onto FF, and every hour thereafter, something refreshes and "updates" for close to 2 minutes. this is extremely annoying and, i think, unnecessary. any clues?

You should not be using such an old version of Firefox.

Please update to Firefox 61.0.1 or later, and, if you're seeing performance issues, please give some details on what exactly is wrong.

Also, I strongly suggest updating to Mac OS High Sierra if your computer supports it https://www.apple.com/macos/high-sierra/

i'm using the older version because i hate the new toolbar in the latest version of FF. i'm unable to upgrade to high sierra on this mac.. so..... did they create a "new" version of FF which gives back the original toolbar?

What toolbar are you talking about? You can customize how the toolbars look.

the toolbar in the newest version of FF has changed and i do not like it, i want to use the one from the version of ff i'm using now. i want the toolbar bookmarks to stay visible. it's been too long since i saw the newest version and how it looked, but i know i did not like it. how do i change the toolbar so the dropdown shows all my toolbar bookmarks?

Are we talking about thunderbird or firefox?

Please update to Firefox 61.0.1 and then customize your toolbar

i thought the newest update of FF WAS thunderbird. is version 61.0.1 NOT thunderbird? now i'm confused.

Thunderbird is an e-mail client (like Outlook or Mac Mail). It is not a web browser. If you are having problems with Thunderbird, that's fine, but we need to send you to a different forum.

Firefox is a web browser (you use it to visit websites) and you should be using the latest version of Firefox (Update Firefox to the latest release). You currently are using Firefox 53, and the current version is 61.0.1, so you are VERY behind and NEED to update ASAP

i'm not having trouble with thunderbird, as far as i know, and i KNOW ff is a web browser. i simply did not like the newest version of ff due to it's toolbar option, it eliminated all the things i had memorized. i use the toolbar menu most often.. THAT is why i reverted back to ff v.53. i'll try to download v 61.0.1 and i'll get back to you. thanks so far for your help..

so, it's different from the update i did last year and did not like, which was what promted me to go back to v53. this version 61.0.1 has repairs to problems i experienced and it seems to have the toolbar issue fixed. everything seems to be the way i liked it. i appreciate your help and time with this matter. consider this problem solved  :)
