On your desktop, do you see a folder called Old Firefox Data or something similar to that? If you do see that, refer to the Recovering important data from an old profile support documentation for more information.

If you don't, it's possible that Firefox simply created a second profile on your computer. This would mean that the old profile could still be on your computer, but that Firefox simply isn't loading into that one.

We can see how many profiles are on your computer by pressing the Windows Key + R on your keyboard. This should open the run dialog where you should type:

%appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

This will open a folder on your computer that should contain every Firefox profile used on that computer. In most cases, there will be only one folder in there, but I suspect that there may be more than one on your computer.

Let us know if you see more than one profile.

My IT consultant (ie not the user) has spent 20 min and found where the bookmarks are. They were not in the recovery folder. That had the same reduced list as no appears in the programme. my full list now takes 5 clicks and some wandering to get to instead of the one previous click. This is not a step forward. ~What was wrong with an icon at the menu bar to take me straight to the bookmarks? This is a backward step in user friendlyness. I've also lost 2 privacy add ons wghich again are not in the recovery folder so I will have to go and seatrch them out (cant remember their names just what they did) and the private browsing has turned off, again more work to set that up.

I assume that you aren't happy with having to go through the Library icon on the Firefox toolbar to access your bookmarks. If that's the case, you can still add the Bookmarks Menu button to the toolbar. See the Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars support documentation for more information.

Also, you never responded to my response above. Was there an Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop? All of your previous data would be located in there if it's available on your desktop.

Sounds like you were a few versions behind on updates. That was changed back in Nov 2017 with Firefox 57. A change that many of us weren't happy with.

Easily changed as Wesley mentioned. Just a matter of using Customize and moving the Bookmarks Menu button to the toolbar,

Yes. There was an Old Firefox Data folder on the desktop. Unfortunately that had the abbriged list in the folder. I've followed your instructions and now have the 1 click access. Why take it away? Not all change is good Mr Firefox developer.

For those of use who wantr a tool to help our work rather than a toy to play with its really anoying to have this hapen. just want to sit at my desk and do rather than spend time rebuilding the tool. Thats why I wont have done an update. They always (no matter for what programme etc) bugger thingfs up and involve time and understanding I dont have in rectifying.
