Firefox 12.0 is rather old and vulnerable now.

I take it you got a message from a website like PayPal or Twitter or such saying you need a more current web browser like say Firefox 49.0 or later and can support TLS 1.1 if not 1.2

Firefox as of 27.0 and later supported TLS 1.2 so the old 12.0 only supported TLS 1.1 at best I believe.

It is possible to get more current version of Firefox on your old Windows 2000 OS if you do some workarounds. Otherwise a light 32-bit Linux distro may be your only other option.

Note the Windows 2000 as Firefox 12.0 was the last Release from Mozilla to run on Win2K as WinXP/Vista was the new minimum then until Firefox 53.0 and later was released and required Windows 7, 8, 10.

As for Firefox ESR there is the Legacy Firefox 52.0 ESR and the current 60.0 ESR and neither will work. The Firefox 52 ESR may work if you do workarounds on Win2K as I mentioned.
