Can you have a print preview appear automatically every time you print, like on Chrome and Opera?

已張貼

I switched to other browsers after I found that they (Chrome, Opera, and Edge) have a better feature for printing.

At least for me personally, I prefer a browser that... 1) Automatically shows a print preview when I try to print in a popup window (not an entirely separate window that covers the browser entirely). and that 2) Figures out how to print the text and images to PDF really well. (I print to PDF *all* the time.)

I saw a previous response suggested the add-on "Print Preview Button by Button Guy," but I have the following two problems with this: 1) this add-on didn't work for me 2) for security reasons, I don't want to use add-ons that are not by Mozilla.

Is there a way to have similar functionality to the competitor browsers in regards to the print function showing a preview in a pop-up window?

Thank you.

Print Preview has been the "go to" action in Firefox for quite awhile now, at least since Firefox 29 and possibly before - when you use the Toolbar button which is hidden in the UI by default.

On the right-side of the Navigation toolbar hit the 3-bar button, then use the Print menu item; the Print Preview screen will appear, and from there you can print.

Also, you can go into the Customize mode and drag a Print button to a toolbar and use that to go into Print Preview, then print from there. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customize-firefox-controls-buttons-and-toolbars

As far as Print to PDF, Firefox doesn't do that by default, but iirc it's available in Windows 8 & 10. I can't say for sure since I used Win7 and don't have that option available to me. I have had Print to PDF in Win7 in the past, but that feature was added to Win7 by an external PDF application which I don't use any longer. Just not something that Mozilla provides in Firefox.

As far as add-ons created by Mozilla, there are a few, and since Firefox 57 was released Mozilla has started doing more and more built-in add-ons; there are at least a half-a-dozen now that I have seen via screenshots that have been posted by Firefox users in this forum. But IMHO you are severely limiting yourself by not using 3rd party add-ons in Firefox; there's a strong screening process for even accepting an add-on for being hosted at AMO (Addons.Mozilla.Org) AND if there is an issue reported by users of newly posted add-ons Mozilla will quickly investigate those complaints and de-list the add-on until any discrepancy is fixed. Sad to say that Mozilla used to be better at manual screening each and every add-on in the past, but they stopped doing that 100% manual screening about a year ago.

There are no add-ons at all. ever by Mozilla. Mozilla makes a browser and these : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/ no extensions. Do what you have to to do.

Thank you both very much for your replies. Perhaps I will consider the add-ons even though the security issue still makes me a bit leery.

As a note to Mozilla, if they read this: I would still prefer the print preview be an automatic pop-up upon "Ctrl-P," as is now included with the other browsers.

Thank you for your consideration.
