Hi,

My Firefix Quantum (59.0.2) is a nightmare - after even just a few minutes after start-up, slow, laggy for typing & switching between browsers, and grinds to a halt so I have to re-not start - which is frustrating and becoming unworkable.

I had this problem previously and managed to fix it with an "about:config" solution, but unfortunately I don't remember what.

That said, I since experienced a lot of problems with "Stop Code Kernel Security Check Failure" Blue Screen of Death, despite drivers updated, which ended up corrupting my old Firefox profile so it wouldn't start up.

I had to create a new profile to fix that, but so am since back to this slow and laggy issue again, despite trying many of the "about:config" solutions suggested here (including 'accessibility.force_disabled' change to value 1), nothing seems to work.

Btw, when I open Task manager, Firefox shows 7 'sub' icons despite having 2 windows open and many more tabs for each - 'Memory' for that is running at 670MB - 78% in total, 12% CPU.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

More than one process is normal for the current Firefox. http://www.ghacks.net/2016/07/22/multi-process-firefox/

Multi-process Firefox is codenamed "e10s". https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/multiprocess

Try to disable multi-process tabs in Firefox. You can disable multi-process tabs in Firefox by setting the related prefs to false on the about:config page.

browser.tabs.remote.autostart = false browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 = false

Type about:config<enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the I Accept the Risk button. At the top of the screen is a search bar.

Hi Fred,

Thanks for your response. I changed the about:config as suggsted. It initially seemed better yesterday, but today I am experiencing the same lag issues - curser, switching between tabs and having to restart. I also get lags working in documents and even trying to start up Task Manager.

If it helps, Firefox is now running at 2000MB memory / PC is 82%

What could I try next? Thanks, Vicky
