I downloaded firefox 58 and made the changes listed in your article, but I am still getting multiple sessions of Firfox when I opent he browser. I set both of the browser.tabs.remote.autostart options to False as advised. SO what would you suggest I try now especially since at least 2 of the sessions are huge memory hogs taking over 100K of the available physical memory.

Hi ConnieSueGreen, Firefox 58+ always has at least one content process and at least one browser (user interface) process. But as you open more tabs, it's not unusual to find a total of five to seven processes. While compacting the content into fewer processes will have a small effect on overall memory use, I think the bigger issue is that some site's content is consuming a lot of memory.

To try limiting content to a single process, see this article: Firefox's performance settings.

Thank you for the information, I will stop using Firefox as I have stopped using Google Chrome, because of the multiple process you have running that are consuming my primary memory, even though only 1 tab may be opened on the browser. I wll instead use PaleMoon browser which only loads 1 Process session, even if multiple tabs are opened though the amount of memory usage does go up witht he extra tabs, but is is not so much that it eats up nearly 60% of the available memory processes and slow my computer and the itnernet access down..

That is the issue with running a older system with little ram. fyi : https://www.howtogeek.com/335712/update-why-you-shouldnt-use-waterfox-pale-moon-or-basilisk/
