On one of my websites that I use daily (tradingacademy.com), there's a drop down menu that no longer works in Firefox. It works fine in other browsers (IE). Tried clearing cache and cookies and running in safe mode, and nothing worked. Using latest version: 57.0.2 (64 bit). Should I use an earlier version? I've been using Firefox for many years. Thank you.

Are you talking about when you log in that you don't get the drop down menus?

Thanks for your reply. No. This website has a number of links, one of which, called Pro Picks, has a Status drop down menu. You might not see it as there’s a password required: https://myota.tradingacademy.com/Resources/TraderDashboard?startgadget=propicks Other tabs have drop down menus that seem to work fine. Only this one is a problem, and it works fine in Internet Explorer.

Is that a CSS menu that opens on hover or is there JavaScript involved?

You can check the Web Console (Tools -> Web Developer) for messages about blocked content and about the presence of mixed or unsafe content.

You can check the Network Monitor to see if content is blocked or otherwise fails to load.

If necessary use "Ctrl+F5" or "Ctrl+Shift+R" to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.

No hover activation, just an up down arrow to open the menu (see attachment). I'll check out the Tools, if I can (not a computer expert). Can also try to get help from web site owner.

Are there messages in the Web Console if you click this element?

This looks like an option select item.

Can you right-click this element and click Inspect Element to open the builtin Inspector?

You can right-click and select "Inspect Element" to open the builtin Inspector with this element selected.

What kind of element do you get?

The element highlighted in blue is attached. I don't have any idea how to interpret this. Thank you for trying to help. Please tell me what else I can do? Do you think it has anything to do with version 57 not supporting Java?

Are there anyone else that works there with you that can do the same test to of FF as well to see if it is a settings or some other system problems causing that?

They are using the same version and not having the problem. What would be the safest way for me to uninstall and reinstall without losing my bookmarks?

more options

I tried refreshing with all tabs closed and that didn't work either. Also, there is another dropdown menu on the same page which works fine.

uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: this should be Pinned and run weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.2 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

If still issues try making a New Profile : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

The DIV element that shows in the screenshot looks that is needs to be processed via JavaScript. If this JavaScript isn't working properly or is blocked then this element won't function properly.

Are there any error messages in the Web Console?

I have the same problem since I upgraded to FF 59.0.02. ValueLine.Com, a finance site, uses drop down menus which worked fine before and work fine with IE. No JavaScript is involved that I'm aware of.

Every time I upgrade FF, I end up with a problem.
