I am running Firefox version 56.0.1. Whenever I click on an article that opens a new tab, the warning: "Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting from another page". Other sources say to turn off "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page firefox version 56.0.1" but that doesn't seem to be an option in this version of Firefox, Please help.

The "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page" warning is meant as an accessibility feature so people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and isn't meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

In Firefox 56+ the "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page" setting can no longer be found in Options/Preferences like you could in Firefox 55 and older:

  • Options/Preferences -> Advanced -> General: Accessibility
    remove checkmark: [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"

Instead you can modify this pref on the about:config page to enable or disable this feature

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
