Hello,

Could you link the extension and where you installed it from?

How am I supposed to reply to you. I never did this before and took a while until I figured out how to reply back. Never assume we know how to respond back. Thanks. John

I was donating $10.00 go download something I didn't know that would work or not. Good thing I don't get involved with mozilla firefox or anything and this is turning out to be a dead end and no one knows anything. Not the genius's i thought that lived here.

Firefox is free and extensions are free. No need to donate to use them. Hence the word "donate."

I sometimes get that error when I submit an address on https://translate.google.com/ even though the page has lots of content that isn't in English. If your translator add-on can translated a selected portion of the page, try using that and omit as much of the English content as you can.

I wasn't able to click on the download....unless I clicked on DONATE. Hence the scam... if you want this... you have to pay. there was no other option to get to the download. Like I stated... the google translator works perfectly in google chrome... but does nothing for the same thing using firefox. Therefore... there's a problem and it's not me or my computer or the site.

Once again... it doesn't translate anything, nothing, nodda. Even it there was some english on a site... how could I delete there stuff? That's impossible.

Maybe you should try a different one. For example, I'm attaching a screenshot of the Mozilla Add-ons site page for Translate This! with the install button circled. There is a separate donation button, which is optional. Do you get a different screen?

To use the selection translation option, you make a selection of the text you want to translate, right-click somewhere (e.g., preferably not on a link or image, since that gives a different menu), and then select the selection option. Second screenshot shows the menu. Third screenshot shows the result on Google Translate.

Guess you should have given me the link to that one if it's different than the one I have. I know how to click on things. Been doing computers since 93 dos 3.3. :-) I'm not a hacker though or know how to fix software. :-) Thanks.

Here is the one I think.. no option for that... just donate. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/s3google-translator/

You should have the green Add to Firefox button on that page, too. If you are using a regular browsing window, could you try a private window? Right-click the link and choose Open Link in New Private Window. That will bypass any cookies the site has set in the past, and any cached pages, in case that is causing the odd behavior.

As a workaround, you also could try the Versions page. The link is in the section at the bottom of the main page called Versions:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/s3google-translator/versions/

Hover the first entry (June 2, 2017) to get the green button.

If nothing works, you may have some bizarre extension that is causing this issue. As you know, you can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions that Firefox installs on its own are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything suspicious? If in doubt, disable.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox before the change takes effect. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Any improvement?

Apparently this is why I keep using google chrome and leaving firefox everytime I try and switch using it I always find something that doesn't work right and can never get fixed.I've got better things to do with my live than to try and find answers to software that should have been fixed along time ago or should be easily fixed now. Your telling me stuff about removing ad ons from firefox and I have no Idea how to do that but will try and follow your instructions. I now have the google s3 version and rebooted and tried it again and it asked me about 10 different questions. Apparently these live streaming sites on facebook are Https secure and not http. But it asked me if I wanted it translated and I agreed to everythings and still nothing happened .. but now its all locked up. at least I'm not getting a pop up. See what you think with this print screen. Thanks.

Facebook is a very dynamic site and I don't know how the S3.Google Translator hooks into its constant updates. Maybe it isn't up to the challenge, but since I do not use it myself, I really couldn't say.

I could try testing it tonight. Otherwise you could ask on one of the author's support threads:

Well, I just tried a non facebook site. :-) Nothing works there either. www.vpiter.com It's st. petersburgh russia. I used to love to watch the web cams and people's comments...however it works well with google chrome but the english translation is always backwards and I know they don't talk like that. :-) . Fire fox is messed up. Thanks.

Note that the S3.Google Translator extension has a setting to warn about HTTPS page on its "Options/Preferences -> Other page".

  • Notify about translation of HTTPS-page

You can usually set a random source language in case of language detect issues with translating web pages although the automatic setting should work when the Google translate API is used.

Yes, I saw that when I told it to translate and it asked if I wanted to translate the secure site and I clicked "OK". Still nothing happened after about 3 more question pop ups. Nothing works right on firefox... never did and probably never will. It's no wonder I love Google chrome. Sorry people. If you make junk ... then no one is going to want it. Try buying a vehicle or a home that had problems that couldn't be fixed. NOT. :-)

I am on a danish ship page this morning and everything is in...whatever language. Once again none of the translators work on firefox... so I switched over to google chrome on my wife's account while switching back and forth and sure enough.... google chrome with the google translator works perfectly and automatically translates every comment and the entire page. Fire fox is truly garbage. This is why I never stuck with it. Who in their right mind would fight a loosing cost. Your not the captain of the firefox ship... so reason to hang in there and go down with the ship. Just total garbage. Thanks.

Some day Firefox may have built-in translation instead of relying on add-ons to use Google translate. Until then, you can direct your complaints and wishes to the feedback site (https://qsurvey.mozilla.com/s3/FirefoxInput/) or the authors of the extensions.

I don't think you'll convince me that having to take an extra step to translate the occasional Danish language page -- opening a page in Google Translate rather than having automatic in-tab translation -- is a compelling reason to switch to Google Chrome as my default browser. With an add-on or the following bookmarklet, it's just one click away:

javascript:var tu='https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u='+window.location.href+'&act=url'; window.open(tu, '_blank'); void 0;

Apparently I'm not speaking your language either. :-/ I never said that the translator worked ...........and it still does not. Google chrome can set up to open multiple web pages when you open it and is so much easier to use and understand. If the translator doesn't work at all ....then ...what good is it? Apparently you're one of the top dogs at firefox and you feel it's necessary to fall on your sword. Me... I have no ties or feelings for something that is slightly botched. I really do appreciate all of your comments and trying to help with an unfixable problem. Seems to me there should be no reason that ad on's should not work especially from google. It's not from Joe schmoe or other off brand. That would be understandable. So, thanks again. I just use firefox to open a seperate browser for my facebook as you can't have 2 open using the same browser...that I know of at the same time. :-) Thanks.
