New email account - POP- message subject downloads - message is missing

Created a new account using POP. New messages are loading from the server but message pane is blank and clicking on View-Layout options are not available and appear feint.

are the message bodies stored locally? Right click the folder select settings In server settings, make sure fetch headers only is not turned on.
