Since updating to version 51.0 a day or two ago, I've had to close out of a handful of different browsing sessions after the screen would freeze up between tabs. It usually happens fairly far into a session, an hour or so in. I'll try to click between tabs and instead of showing the website, I'll get the buffering spin on the page. Sometimes one or two of the pages will remain open and it'll look like it's still trying to load the page, but I can't scroll up or down the page. This only started happening since I've updated from the previous version.

I thought turning off hardware acceleration in my browser would do the trick, but that didn't seem to work, either. All add-ons and plugins are up to date, and I'm certain this doesn't have anything to do with them.

Happened again. Where can I download the previous version of Firefox?

Is this with one website, several, many? You say after several hours? What were you and the computer doing?

Install an older version of Firefox {web link} Be sure to read everything here.

If you still want to downgrade, look under "I still want to downgrade" Click the Directory of other versions and languages link Look for the directory of the version that you want. But remember that old versions may have security issues.

What am I doing? Nothing that I wasn't doing before the upgrade. Just general browsing. Reading newspapers, forums, etc. I'm posting this because I was doing my normal routine and the difference is the Firefox version.

Anyway, I was able to find an older version.

Issues were found with v51. An update should be coming out soon.

No, nothing has been resolved. I'm glad to hear that something was found in v.51, but that doesn't help me until the patch comes out.

please disable the multiprocess architecture in firefox: enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2. double-click it and change its value to false and restart firefox afterwards.

I've upgraded back to this version. I've noticed that even just loading the Yahoo! homepage it can hang for minutes at a time. Forget opening Youtube and trying to do anything else in another browser.

I've got flash protected mode turned off and flash only present when I want it to be used (i.e. ask-only basis). I've tried switching on and off hardware acceleration.

I'm not sure what to do.
