Update: Issue #2 is fixed. Turns out opening firefox then clicking tools then options, there is a setting under the "General" spot that says Ctrl + Tab cycles through tabs in recently used order. I unchecked that and it went back to the way I'm used to! As for the other two issues I am trying to look into them myself but haven't found a solution yet. Firefox is still laggy. Pretty much anytime I click a different open tab that annoying gray spinning icon shows up and it has to wait to display anything on any webpage.... even this one as I am typing this update. It's so frustrating. I disabled hardware acceleration for flash player and also unchecked "enable flash in protected mode" and restarted firefox... neither of those helped, maybe it's not flash that's the problem?

I held shift then double clicked the firefox icon. A window came up asking if I wanted to start in safe mode. I clicked that, firefox opened. I opened a few random tabs... for example one of them is http://www.wikihow.com/Start-Firefox-in-Safe-Mode the page opens fine but when I try scrolling up or down it is very slow/laggy. Firefox being laggy is normally not an issue for me, especially on a page that only has text and pictures. I used windows update and it found no updates. I even opened device manager and right clicked my graphics card and clicked "update driver software" and told it to do it automatically. It then responded saying "the best driver software for your device is already installed" it's an AMD Radeon HD 7520G

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

I have tried starting the computer in safe mode and using firefox for safe websites (this one actually) and using the arrow keys to scroll up/down was slow and it acted laggy. It's working fine now (in normal mode for both windows and firefox) but when I switch tabs using Ctrl + tab it is still doing that gray spinning icon that it's never done before.

So right now I just finished downloading the scanners that I found in the article you provided. I am unable to figure out how to download TDSSKiller from Kaspersky. I used this link https://usa.kaspersky.com/downloads/TDSSKiller But when I fill in the fields and click submit it just goes to https://usa.kaspersky.com/node/34579 and all the boxes are red.... ? In the meantime I'll run the other ones and when they're finished I'll post what was found if anything, thank you :)

adw cleaner found nothing, mbam found potentially unwanted program (unlocker).. but I installed that and use it. SuperAntiSpyware found 719 adware tracking cookies (I told it to remove all of them) some were for IE but most were for firefox. Would maybe going back to an older version of firefox help? I'm currently using 50.1.0 but I wasn't having these issues on the version before the one I'm using now... If there are any other malware scanners you want me to run or any logs you need let me know!

You can check for problems with preferences.

Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename/remove the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in current Firefox releases.

If you still want to downgrade, look under "I still want to downgrade" Click the Directory of other versions and languages link Look for the directory of the version that you want. But remember that old versions may have security issues.

I opened my firefox profile folder and searched for anything that had .js in the filename. I renamed the prefs.js file (after I closed firefox) reopened it, verified that the preferences are returned to defaults.. opened a few webpages such as yahoo, google, this one, etc. hopped back and forth between tabs and I still get the spinning gray circle. I never got that circle before. I just tried getting directions on google maps and it loaded. I'm going to close firefox and restore the renamed prefs.js file to how it was and see if it still loads all the way

Google maps works now with my original prefs.js file. Maybe google maps was just being dumb that day. So the version before 50.1.0 is 49.0.2? Are there any other things I can do to troubleshoot my current version of firefox? Everything else on my computer is working great as usual, just not firefox. Earlier when I was scanning for malware/viruses I ran into a kaspersky software update tool thing, it said there's a java update.. says I'm using version 8.0.111.14 and the newer version is 8.0.112.15. But when I open java via the control panel and check for updates it says "you already have the latest java platform on this system" That makes no sense to me. I do understand using an older version of firefox can pose security risks, but I really dislike IE, and the current version doesn't seem to be working, so I'm going to try firefox 49.0.2 and see if that helps.

If the programs web site says you are up to date, then you are fine. Don’t worry.

I tried firefox 49.0.2 but I still see that annoying gray spinning icon. When someone gets time let me know if there's anything else I can do. It's not terrible, but it doesn't feel as snappy as it used to. I don't really remember ever seeing that icon at all before, or definitely not as much. So I am now currently back to 50.1.0

Maybe this will help with my problem? I remember I used to open Firefox and have multiple tabs open and be watching a video or whatever there was only 1 firefox.exe process I believe. Now there are 2, and there are also 2 flashplayerplugin ones, as you can see in the screenshot. Why are there so many? I never noticed this before. There's also plugin-container.exe Do I need all of these to be running? Why can't I just have firefox.exe and be able top open up what I want without all these other processes showing up? I have one firefox window. With 2 tabs open. Yet it seems like it wants to open all these other processes ):

I searched for "browser.tabs.remote.autostart" under "about:config" and I found "browser.tabs.remote.autostart" and "browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2" Not sure why there is the one you mentioned, then another one with the same thing but ".2" on the end? I also changed a setting under "dom.ipc.plugins" where it says something about disable protected mode... is that a big deal? I changed it to true. When I go to "about:support" it says "Multiprocess Windows 0/1 (Disabled)" Firefox is now running faster, but when I open task manager I still see two flashplayerplugin processes and plugin-container.exe I do have 1 firefox process now, and it is faster, so thank you to everyone that has been patient with me and helping me understand this better! All I know is Firefox was running fine, then I updated it and it was slower for me. I do understand that running plugins and all that in different processes and all that makes it so if something "hangs" or crashes that the main firefox window isn't affected, and that this also helps with security. But I have my data backed up on an external hard drive. I also have system restore points, along with a usb iso image for windows 10, so I'm not worried. The worst the would probably happen is that I end up having to reinstall some stuff, and move some files back.

I don't understand why the update to 50.1.0 made things slower... because I have 8gb of ram, and my cpu is 2.70GHz. Maybe there is some sort of windows setting I can change or something, because it seems silly to me that an update would cause so many issues.. I think my computer should be able to handle multiple processes of firefox, and it's other related processes just fine?
