Hello everyone,

I use Firefox every day on my Linux KDE machine. Before I upgraded to Firefox 50 I highly appreciated the following behavior of select boxes: 1) I click on select box, only mouse down; 2) choose an option; 3) mouse up to pick it and close the select box. So I need only one click. I think that this feature is useful for many Linux users. Now this feature is not available in Firefox 50. May I hope that good old select box will be returned?

Thank you

Not sure I am familiar with the feature.

Is it Kubuntu you are using. I have some kde DEs I think but probably not on Ubuntu. Not sure but may this be a feature of the DE rather than Firefox

I use Linux Mint 17.2 KDE. You are right, you can come across this feature anywhere in DE, any menus work this way. A friend of mine uses Ubuntu and he also has this feature, so it is not KDE specific. But this behavior disappeared in Firefox right after I upgraded it from 49 to 50.

Can you please give some example where this is seen I can then test it in various Firefox Versions and Operating Systems.

Does or did this work for instance within the Firefox interface for example the page about:preferences also available from the

menu {3bar icon) -> preferences {cog icon) {options in Windows)
Fx50GeneralPanel-Linux

You can test it on any site that contains select box, example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015TJD0Y4/ref_=fs_ods_fs_aucc_btmp I can not select the quantity (above add to cart button) using one click.

As for Firefox preferences page - it works fine, I can easily change "When Firefox starts" option with one click.

It works exactly the way you describe on the Amazon page --- on Windows. What step has changed on your Firefox from how it worked before?

Hi again kreaton, Initially I was not too sure what you meat until you provided an example.

I checked on Ubuntu and on Windows and it works as expected. The Ubuntu though was not a KDE Desktop Environment version though, and I was actually surprised the Canonical Build of Firefox was already updated to Fx50.0.2 because it does tend to be at least a few days behind the Mozilla releases.

This does not sound like something that would be changed in Firefox, and neither does it sound like something that would only affect one particular type of Linux.

There are thousands of changes in Firefox upgrades so it could be a genuine bug however it is probably more likely something else such as some add-on or script-blocker is affecting this. Are you and your friend using some add-on in common.

I have to say that a friend of mine has just upgraded to Firefox 50 on his Ubuntu and he does not have this bug. So I believe this is a KDE issue. But this is really strange that my Chromium 53 does not have this bug. Take a look at my screenshots.

Hi kreaton, regarding your last screen shot, there may be inconsistencies in the styling of form controls in Firefox 48+ due to the Multiprocess feature that blocks some style rules in pages from reaching certain aspects of those controls. Please see these threads about that issue:

These issues have been escalated to the developers but it probably will take some time before any changes are implemented.

Hi jscher2000,

Thank you for the links. Probably this is it. I hope this issue will be fixed soon.
