It's possible that whoever stole your laptop changed the Password for your Sync account before you were able to connect that new device. When the account Password is changed all the data on the Sync server would have been cleared. That old Password held the "keys" to decrypting your data; a different Password &amp; "keys" wouldn't be able to decrypt your data.
</p><p>Unless <em><strong>you</strong></em> inadvertently reset your Sync Password when connecting the new device to Sync, that is probably the best explanation of why your data wasn't recovered.
